Khomanani is a Tsonga word meaning “caring together” and I think is appropriate for any heritage day project because diversity is our strength in this wonderful country! My console table was made from scrap pieces of wood donated to me by Maple Street Timbers and it is made up of many different species of wood from dark and light, hard and soft. 6 species were used eg. Ash, White Oak, Red oak, European Oak, Meranti and Kiaat
The legs are Ash and Oak, top base is Meranti, Kiaat sides, draw is Meranti and draw front is red oak with Kiaat inlays and table top is Kiaat in the middle with Ash and strip of White Oak on the edges finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil plus 2C Vienna. Soft closing under mount draw.
